The external hard drive is a Toshiba, which I'm thinking is the problem?

Now, my PC fairly new, (2months old) 64 bit, win 7. (NOTE: all the images look fine while previewing them in the camera) So, I used a firewire connected to the camera and saved the images on my internal hard drive, and from them didn't notice anything different and seemed to work. Then I read somewhere that it could me the usb port, reader, or the HDD.
